Kade Ruotolo has not yet fought anyone with a résumé like Ok Rae Yoon's. The 23-year-old grappling champion steps up in MMA on Dec. 18 against a man who won the ONE lightweight title in 2021, and ONE has now made the fight official after MMA Fighting first reported it.
Ruotolo is 4-0 in MMA, all four wins inside the distance. The first three were submissions. The fourth, in May, was a second-round knockout of Hiroyuki Tetsuka, which showed he can finish on the feet as well. He also holds the ONE lightweight submission grappling title, though his focus has moved toward MMA.
Yoon, 17-6, took the ONE title by beating Christian Lee in 2021, the same year he beat Eddie Alvarez. He arrives on a two-fight skid, with decision losses to Alibeg Rasulov and Lucas Gabriel. Both went the distance, and none of Ruotolo's four opponents has reached a scorecard.
The welterweight co-feature has its own contrast. Abevi, a 27-year-old Swiss fighter at 9-1, has won three straight, including finishes of Samat Mamedov and Blake Cooper, after losing his ONE debut. Dzhabrailov, 21, is 7-0 with every win a finish. He was dropped by Chase Mann at ONE Fight Night 42 before finishing that fight in the first round.
The card sits in a busy stretch for the Ruotolo family. Kade's twin brother Tye challenges Lee for the lightweight MMA title at The Inner Circle 37 on Nov. 6. ONE suggests a big win on Dec. 18 could move any of the four fighters toward a title shot. Tye's result on Nov. 6 will be the next marker before Kade steps in.
