Privacy policy

Last updated October 25, 2026 (reader tips added)

The short version

  • You can read everything on MMA-TV without an account, and without being tracked.
  • We don't run ads, we don't use advertising or tracking cookies, and we don't sell or share your personal information for advertising.
  • Our reading stats count readers with a one-way code that changes every day; it can't identify you, and no cookie is involved.
  • If you make an account, we keep what you need for it (username, email, password stored scrambled) and what you post.
  • Some things you type (search questions, claims you check, notes on stories) are processed by an AI service to answer you.
  • You can ask us for a copy of your data, to fix it, or to delete it: [email protected].

1. Who we are

MMA-TV ("MMA-TV", "we", "us") runs mma-tv.net: an MMA and boxing news site where an AI newsroom reads coverage from many outlets and writes a short summary of each story, linked to the original reporting, plus a fan community. This policy explains what personal information we handle when you use the site, and why.

Questions or requests: email [email protected] or use our contact form.

2. What we collect

When you just read

  • Reading stats, without tracking you. When a page stays open for a few seconds, your browser tells our server which page was read, roughly how long, how far down, and where the visit came from (for example "Google" or "X", or a code on a link we posted). We count readers with a one-way code made from your IP address, browser and the date; it can't be turned back into either, it changes every day, and the raw counts expire within 3 days. What we keep is totals per page and per day. No cookie is used for this.
  • Server and security logs. Like any website, our servers and our network provider (Cloudflare) see your IP address and browser details when you load a page, to deliver it and to keep out attacks and abuse.
  • Things you do without an account. If you vote in a fan poll, we store your vote with a random ID kept in a cookie, plus a scrambled version of your network address for 2 days so one network can't stuff a poll. If you search, we log what was searched. If you use Cap or not, we store the claim you entered and the result.

When you make an account

  • Account details: username, email address, and password (stored only in scrambled, hashed form; we can't see it). Optional profile details you choose to add, like an avatar, location or favorite fighter.
  • What you post and do: comments, forum posts, private messages, reactions, picks, reader notes on stories and how you rate them, stories you follow, and settings.
  • Tips you send the newsroom: the link and the note you write, with your username. If a tip makes it into a story, your username is shown on that story as the tipster.
  • IP addresses recorded with sign-in, sign-up and posts, to fight spam and abuse.
  • Push notifications, if you turn them on: your browser gives us a delivery address for notifications, which we store until you turn them off.

Public posts from X

Under some stories we show public posts from X (formerly Twitter) about that story: the author's public name and handle, the post's words and date, with a link to the post on X. We don't collect anything else about those authors. If you wrote one and want it taken off MMA-TV, email us and we'll remove it.

We don't buy data about you, and we don't use advertising networks, social media pixels or third-party analytics.

3. How we use it

  • To run the site and your account: show pages, sign you in, post what you write, deliver notifications you asked for, send account emails (like confirming your address or resetting your password).
  • To answer you: search results, AI answers to questions, Cap or not verdicts, fan poll results.
  • To keep things accurate: reader notes that flag a mistake are checked against the sources, and corrections are published on the story.
  • To keep the site safe: stop spam, vote stuffing, abuse and attacks; enforce our terms.
  • To make the site better: our reading stats tell us which stories people read, so the newsroom can keep popular stories current. We look at totals, not at individuals.

If you're in the European Economic Area or the UK, our legal bases are: providing the service you asked for (contract) for your account and the features you use; our legitimate interests in running a secure, accurate, useful news site for the reading stats, security logs and abuse prevention; your consent for push notifications and optional emails, which you can withdraw at any time; and legal obligations where they apply.

4. AI and your information

MMA-TV's newsroom uses AI to read news coverage and write summaries. A few features also send what you type to an AI service to work:

  • search questions, for the short AI answer on the search page;
  • claims you enter in Cap or not;
  • reader notes that say a story is wrong, so they can be checked against the sources;
  • tips you send the newsroom (the linked page and your note), so the newsroom can judge them.

We use Anthropic's Claude for this, through its API. Under Anthropic's commercial terms, what we send isn't used to train its models. We send only what's needed to answer: the text you typed and the related stories, not your name, email or account. Please don't type personal information about yourself or others into these features.

The newsroom also uses xAI's Grok to search X for news and fan reactions about stories. Those searches contain story details; for a tip sent without a link, they also contain the tip's text, to look for a source. They never contain your account details.

5. Who we share it with

We don't sell your personal information, and we don't share it for advertising. We share it only with companies that help us run the site, under their terms and only for that purpose:

  • DigitalOcean: hosts our servers and database (United States).
  • Cloudflare: delivers the site, protects it from attacks, and stores images and media.
  • Anthropic: AI processing, as described above.
  • xAI and X: searching and reading public posts on X; posting MMA-TV's own updates. No reader information is sent.
  • GIPHY: GIF search in comments. Your search goes through our server, but when a GIF is shown, your browser loads it from GIPHY, which sees your IP address.
  • YouTube: video thumbnails on stories load from YouTube's image servers, which see your IP address; the video player itself loads only when you press play or open the video feed, from YouTube's privacy-enhanced domain (youtube-nocookie.com).
  • Your browser's push service (for example Google, Mozilla or Apple), if you turn on notifications, to deliver them.

We may also share information if the law requires it, to protect the rights, safety or property of our users, the public or MMA-TV, or as part of a sale or transfer of the site, in which case this policy keeps applying to your information.

6. Cookies and local storage

We use only cookies the site needs to work or that remember a choice you made. No advertising or tracking cookies, so there's no cookie banner to click through.

Your browser also stores a few things on your own device, which we never receive: which poll answer you picked, so we can show you the results.

7. What's public

Your username, profile, comments, forum posts, reactions and picks are public, and search engines may index them. Private messages are visible only to the people in the conversation and, when needed to handle reports or abuse, to our moderators. A Cap or not result has its own page that anyone with the link can open (we ask search engines not to list those pages), so don't put personal information in a claim.

8. How long we keep it

  • Your account, what you post and tips you send: until you delete it or ask us to. Text that others quoted in their own posts may stay in those posts.
  • IP address logs: 1 year.
  • Raw reading stats: 3 days; after that only totals per page and day, which identify no one.
  • Search log: 90 days.
  • Cap or not checks: 180 days; the scrambled key that limits checks per hour is removed after 2 days.
  • Fan poll votes: kept with the poll; the scrambled network key is removed after 2 days.
  • Push notification addresses: until you turn notifications off or the browser stops accepting them.

9. Your rights and choices

Wherever you live, you can ask us to:

  • tell you what personal information we have about you and give you a copy;
  • correct it;
  • delete it, including your account;
  • stop using it for a purpose you object to.

You can also edit your profile and email and notification settings yourself, and turn off push notifications in your browser. Email [email protected] from the address on your account (or tell us how to confirm it's you), and we'll answer within 30 days.

EEA and UK: you also have the right to data portability, to withdraw consent at any time, and to complain to your local data protection authority.

California and other US states with privacy laws: we don't sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, and we don't use sensitive personal information to infer things about you. You have the right to know, delete and correct your personal information, and we won't treat you differently for using these rights. You can use an authorized agent to make a request.

10. Children

MMA-TV isn't meant for children under 13, and you must be at least 13 to make an account (or older where your country's law requires it). If we learn we have personal information from a child under 13, we delete it. If you think a child has given us information, email us.

11. Security

The site runs only over encrypted connections (HTTPS). Passwords are stored hashed, our database is reachable only from our own servers, and access to it is limited. No system is perfectly secure, but if a breach ever affected your information, we'd tell you and the authorities as the law requires.

12. Where your data is

Our servers are in the United States (DigitalOcean, New York). If you use MMA-TV from elsewhere, your information is handled in the United States, where privacy law may differ from yours. When we transfer data from the EEA or UK, we rely on the safeguards our providers offer, such as the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.

13. Changes and contact

If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. If a change matters, we'll say so on the site, and members will be asked to review it when they next sign in.

Questions, requests or complaints: [email protected], or our contact form. See also our terms of service.
