The most interesting part of this report is that the film exists at all. Netflix lost the UFC to Paramount, yet according to Page Six Hollywood it is still making a documentary about the man who runs the promotion, with a release expected in the first quarter of 2027.
The project was approved while Netflix was bidding for the UFC's U.S. rights. Outlets say it began as a film about Las Vegas before the focus shifted to White's rise from unknown to one of the most powerful figures in sports. Gotham Chopra, whose Religion of Sports company has made films on Tom Brady and other athletes, is reported as director. He declined to comment to Page Six.
The reported scope is broad. It is expected to cover the UFC Freedom 250 event at the White House and the launch of Zuffa Boxing with Turki Alalshikh. Combat Press notes it is unclear whether an earlier, separate Netflix project about White's Las Vegas gambling is connected. No title, trailer or interview list has been announced.
The word 'tell-all' drew pushback. Paulie Malignaggi, the 45-year-old former two-weight boxing champion and now a commentator, said on The Ariel Helwani Show that such a film on White is 'kind of an oxymoron'. He said he wanted more of the truth than 'the bulls*** stuff'. Malignaggi is set to headline BKB 62 against Victor Ortiz in Los Angeles on Dec. 5.
What to watch for: an official announcement from Netflix, a title and release date, and whether White takes part. The answer will show whether the film is the critical look the label implies or a more flattering portrait.
