BreakingDown has fixed the full running order for LEGEND FIGHT, its first show for fighters aged 40 and over. The card is on Oct. 31 at an undisclosed venue in Tokyo, and the tournament it carries will not finish that night.
The tournament has 16 entrants and pays 5 million yen to the winner, who becomes the inaugural champion. The first round was settled through auditions on Asakura Mikuru's YouTube channel. Six winners came through and join seeds Keinosuke and Hiro Mikawa, making an eight-man field.
The Tokyo show covers the middle of the bracket. Fights two to five are the second round, and fights 12 and 13 are the semifinals. The final moves to Dec. 13 at BreakingDown 22 at GLION Arena in Kobe, Hyogo. The bracket pairings had not been announced.
The six first-round winners are a mixed group: Asakura's driver Ryosuke Tanimoto, biker Cazuya, Takumi (whom the judges all called strong), Tsuyoshi Ishii (who says he has served time in prison seven times), OGJ (who drew attention by claiming he once knocked out Ruka Yasumi in an MMA one-day tournament final) and the YouTuber Shinji Yamamoto, known as Aka Jersey. These claims about OGJ and Ishii are their own and are not independently confirmed.
The one-off bouts include former K-1 and Krush fighter Tetsu against Zen Kuroyanagi. Kuroyanagi comes off a loss to Dai Sasaki under MMA rules at BreakingDown 21. Six more one-off bouts are also booked.
Public weigh-ins and a press conference take place on Oct. 30 at . After the card, the next thing to watch is who reaches the semifinals and the Kobe final.
