Abusupiyan Magomedov wants Gregory Rodrigues next. After a fast win last week over Australia's Cam Rowston, the Dagestan-born middleweight who fights for Germany told MMA Junkie that Rodrigues is "the fight that makes sense for me right now" (translated).
Magomedov said he is on a good winning streak, that the division is the toughest around and that he will take any opponent who moves him closer to a title fight. He added that the UFC knows he never avoids challenges and that he has fought through minor injuries. Rodrigues is seventh in the division's meta-ranking.
Magomedov also reacted to climbing four places to ninth in the same meta-ranking, saying he was shocked and happy to be above Israel Adesanya. He said he believes Adesanya will retire after his fight with Shara Magomedov. No bout between Magomedov and Rodrigues has been announced.
