Manuel del Valle has a clear route to a Cage Warriors title shot, and the main event of the promotion's Spanish showcase in London on Nov. 7 is the next step. He meets Portugal's Luan Duarte, the more experienced man on paper.
According to Spor Fanatik, a win would leave the Spaniard one victory away from becoming the next challenger for the 77-kilogram title. The outlet also notes that several Cage Warriors champions have gone on to the UFC, which adds weight to the fight.
Del Valle, who is from Sevilla and trains at the Sevilla Dövüş Merkezi, comes in 8-1 as a professional. Spor Fanatik says he has won his last four fights and is 6-1 in Cage Warriors, a run that has made him one of the promotion's more visible names.
Duarte is 15-3, so he brings more fights than his opponent. The Portuguese fighter is a stern test for a Spanish prospect who wants to move up the ladder.
The card has a heavy Spanish presence. Paddy Rutledge fights Omar Sargent, Angel Bellucci faces Shahram Hotak, and Samuel Blasco meets Ermil Xhaferi. Arturo Izquierdo makes his professional debut against Hany Musleh. The event takes place at the former BBC studios, and some of the other Spanish fighters on the card have not yet been announced.
What to watch for is whether del Valle can extend his winning run against the most experienced opponent listed in his Cage Warriors stretch, and whether the promotion names him the next 77-kilogram contender afterward. Neither has been confirmed.
