Tezuka pulled guard from a clinch, worked into his favored half guard, took the back and finished with a footlock, according to MMAPLANET. It was an original technique, and he joked he would name it "Love Is".
The win matters for Tezuka's career. A former bantamweight champion, he had lost five straight MMA fights before beating Takumi Yagi by decision in July, his first win in three years and nine months, according to Gong Kakutogi. He returned to bantamweight in his hometown for this bout.
Nagano came in on a three-fight winning streak, including a decision over Shuichi Kanda at RIZIN LANDMARK 15 in July. Tezuka said Nagano is a fighter who has won in RIZIN and that he hopes the finish serves as his appeal for a fight there. No RIZIN booking has been announced.
