Lone'er Kavanagh bounced back from his loss to Brandon Royval with a first-round stoppage. He stayed patient while Temirov threw heavy, power-first strikes, then landed a left uppercut counter and swarmed with a punching combination until the fight was stopped. The win ended Temirov's 12-fight winning streak.

At the post-fight press conference, Kavanagh said: "I'm here for that title, you know, so I'd like to think that it puts me right back at the top for title contender." He said he is happy to wait for the winner of Van vs. Kape, and when asked about being the backup, he answered "definitely".

The title fight was announced during the UFC 333 broadcast, so Kavanagh's next move depends on how that bout plays out and on whether the UFC picks him as the standby. He also said he would like to fight at the O2 when the UFC returns to London, usually around March.
